Original Galaxy SII (i9100) audio unit.

I tend to have bad luck with my audio equipment. Recently I broke the audio jack of my old Galaxy SII (too much tension on the headphone wire). It wouldn’t recognize headphones or speaker any longer – a bad thing for a podcast addicted person like me.

Luckily the SII is very easy to repair, even for non technical people. I did some research and ordered a very cheap replacement part (this one on amazon, but they are sold quite often).

To repair any part of any phone a teardown comes in handy. Also there is a nice video tutorial on how to replace the audio unit specifically:

The hardest part was opening up the clipped case (take you time – it will come off eventually) and removing the affixed vibrator and speaker. After these steps everything went smoothly and my phone is working perfectly again.
