Recently we played around with Google Cardboard and Durovis Dive at work. These two smartphone holder enable virtual reality applications for some smartphones.
Because we didn’t want to fiddle around with low-level OpenGL I looked around for some web demos. Once again Google has been faster and released Chrome Experiments for Cardboard. These small tech demos use HTML, Javascript and most important WebGL via three.js. This way we could use a nice, hight-level 3D API for our game while using known technologies.
The setup for such an app is really simple so you have no excuse to not try it out!

You could 3d-print it. I think there are open source models at least for the dive. Alternatively you can apply as game developer.
